Knights and Ladies Day: The History of Heraldry

April 20, 2021

Bring your little Knights and Ladies to the Hammond Castle Museum for an educational and hands-on introduction to the history of heraldry on Knights and Ladies Day!   This hour long program on April 20, is geared towards 5-8 year olds, and will be held in the Great Hall of the Museum, where their imagination can run wild, just as John Hays Hammond Jr., the inventor who built the Castle intended.

After a short introduction to heraldry from the Museum curator, your little aristocrats will get the chance to design their very own coat of arms using symbols and colors that represent each of them individually. This program will follow Covid protocols and offer individual supplies, social distancing, and masks will be required for all participants.   Following will be a story time with a book inspired by medieval life.

Cost of admission to this event is $20 per adult and $10 per child.  We do ask, given Covid capacity restrictions, that only one adult accompany each group of children.  Tickets must be purchased in advance for the 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. session.    In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have developed a Code of Safety in an effort to maintain the health and wellness of all our guests and staff while offering a safer, enjoyable experience. Before purchasing your tickets, please view our policy.
