“My ambition is to leave a modest, but beautiful museum. In a few years, after I am gone, all my scientific creations will be old-fashioned and forgotten. In these days even careers are soon forgotten, only that which meets the eye remains. A few students dig us up, the world goes on. Where will our name be in 100 years? I want to build something in hard stone to engrave on it for posterity a name of which I am justly proud.” John Hays Hammond Jr. wrote in a letter to his father in 1924.
Hammond Castle Museum is a small independent non-profit, and listed as a public 501(c)(3) organization. It was built nearly 100 years ago and is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As with many old structures, the museum continues to face steeply rising costs of major maintenance and preservation needs, as well as the requirements of annual operating costs.
There are current efforts underway to address the more major capital projects, including restoration of the clerestory over the Courtyard, undertaking remedial masonry work, new electrical service/panels, among others. However, there are a number of ongoing preservation and operating needs for which donations in any amount would be most appreciated. Private and corporate donations are a valued source of income to offset this need.
To discuss a larger donation, or if you are interested in underwriting one of our capital projects or other needs, please contact our Executive Director, Linda Harvey at email@example.com.
All donations are tax-deductible and greatly appreciated. To make a one time or a monthly tax-free gift, please use the form below. Thank you so much for your support!
